The Rundown Take
Week 1 NFL Predictions: The Third of September, Larry's Best Bets, and a Patriots Fan Named TB12
It was the third of September — the day Larry Frank always remembers, Temptations on repeat — and that meant one thing: week one of the NFL, picked game by game on the U Talk NFL Edition. Devin and LFJ ran the full slate, documented the receipts, and christened a new segment for the parlay people.
Key Takeaways
- The hosts agreed more than usual: both took Dallas over the champion Eagles (Kellen Moore's exit to New Orleans being Frank's tell), the Dolphins over a Colts team in quarterback limbo, Arizona in a blowout of the Saints, the Commanders by two touchdowns, and the Bucs over Atlanta.
- The splits carried the drama: Frank went Chargers over the Chiefs in Brazil and Browns over Bengals ("Flacco and Jeudy — that's money"), while Devin rode Kyler, the Chiefs, the Seahawks' 12th man against Purdy, and Detroit over Green Bay.
- The rivalry stakes were set for Sunday: Devin's Raiders visit Foxborough, and Frank gleefully picked New England — payback for a season of laughing-emoji texts — while a new chat menace named TB12 declared Drake Maye the next face of the NFL.
- Devin took petty revenge on the Steelers, picking the Jets over Pittsburgh purely out of spite, while Frank held his nose and rode his own squad.
- Larry's Best Bets debuted: Dallas +7, Kelce over 45 receiving with Rice suspended, Dak over 240, CeeDee over 70, and an anytime-TD stable of Saquon, Ashton Jeanty, McCaffrey, James Conner and the inevitable Derrick Henry.
Cam Ward Sympathy Corner
Both hosts winced through picking the Broncos over their beloved former Cane's Titans — nothing but love for Cam, no faith in what's around him. Travis Hunter also got Devin's Jaguars pick, delivered with genuine compassion for the young man's much-discussed home life, over Frank's objection that everybody warned him.
The Week Ahead
The app news went from rumor to countdown — "give us two days" — and the guest slate got heavy: Bennie Blades, Tolbert Bain, Selwyn Brown and Darrell Fullington joining Mr. B for Thursday's hype show before Miami hosts Bethune-Cookman at the Rock. Real Talk Monday takes on staying friends with your ex, and Frank headed straight from sign-off to guest on Rebels with a Cause.
"Whatever y'all win off Larry's Best Bets, I want my cut."
Every pick documented, every receipt archived, and TB12 formally placed on notice for the entire season. It's U Talk, baby — even on NFL night, it ain't no us without you.
